Tissue Engineering: From the Bedside to the Bench to the Bedside

With more than 113,000 people waiting for organ transplants in the U.S., the man known as “The Father of Tissue Engineering” is working feverishly to find a way to produce organs outside of the body for life-saving transplants. Dr. Joseph P. Vacanti was at Jump Simulation and Education Center in Peoria to share about the value and importance of this field.

ABOUT DR. RICHARD PEARL

Dr. Richard Pearl, Professor Emeritus, dedicated 20 years of service to OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois as the Director of Pediatric Trauma and Surgeon-in-Chief at OSF Children’s Hospital and Director of the Pediatric Surgery Center.

He served as Director of the Surgical Simulation for Jump Simulation where he organized surgical simulation projects, coordinated American College of Surgeons Accreditation and oversaw the ACS Simulation Fellowship.

He was also the Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria.
